Prime Healthcare is committed to providing "comprehensive, quality healthcare in a compassionate, convenient and cost-effective manner". As a testament to this commitment, Desert Valley Hospital in Victorville, CA, received coveted "accreditation with commendation" from Joint commission in its first year of operation. The Hospital also received the highest score (99.5%) from the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program of the American Osteopathic Association during its most recent accreditation survey. Thomson Healthcare/Modern Healthcare Magazine ranked Desert Valley Hospital as a Top 100 Hospital in the Nation in 2003, 2005 and 2006. Desert Valley Hospital was recognized as Top 1% of Hospitals in the Nation by Premier / CareScience for high quality of patient care for the year 2007. Desert Valley Hospital was also named the top hospital of the Top 10% of California Hospitals in the PacifiCare Quality Index® Survey for 2004 ranking it higher than hospitals such as Cedars Sinai Medical Center and Loma Linda University Medical Center. It is this level of quality and commitment that Prime Healthcare brings that will have a positive impact on quality of care outcomes at all of its hospitals.
Prime Healthcare understands that a hospital's Emergency Room is its most vital component. Prime Healthcare's Emergency Departments are superbly staffed, stay open longer (go on saturation/diversion/bypass less) than other area hospitals. Even though this policy results in an increased number of uninsured/indigent patients seeking care at Prime Healthcare's hospitals (from an average of 7% to more than 20%), Prime Healthcare is committed to keeping its emergency departments open as a gateway to its hospitals and a life-saving service to those who rely on them.
Prime Healthcare provides charity care and supports a number of healthcare related charities in its efforts to improve the quality of life in the communities it serves. For example, for the last four years publicly available OSHPD data indicates that Prime HealthCare's hospitals provides more charity care than the other hospitals in the area. Dr. Prem Reddy Family foundation, a not for profit 501(c) organization, has donated over $ 20 million to High Desert Communities including over $1 million of support for nursing programs at community college and the establishment of a health education library.
Prime Healthcare also provides substantial support as well as doctors for two free clinics for indigent patients in the Inland Empire communities served by Chino Valley Medical Center and Montclair Hospital Medical Center. The Montclair Clinic recently received the Health Service Alliance 2006 AstraZeneca Spirit of Humanity Award for providing medical assistance to children and adults without medical insurance. At Sherman Oaks Hospital, Prime Healthcare and Dr. Prem Reddy, have donated over one million dollars to The Circle of Care Foundation, The Burn Foundation, Leeza's Place, and the SAGE program, all of which provide essential healthcare services to seniors and children.
