state of California based on the number of facilities.
Prime Healthcare is a unique physician-founded and physician-driven health
system with doctors and clinicians leading the organization at every level.
Prime Healthcare has ranked among the Top 10 health systems in the nation
and was the only health system recognized with the prestigious
2021 John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and
Quality Award for addressing social determinants of health. Prime Healthcare ranks among
the top 10 health systems in the nation for social responsibility and
cost efficiency, according to the
Lown Institute.
Prime Healthcare hospitals have been recognized by Healthgrades with more
than 300 achievements for clinical excellence, and Prime has more award-winning
hospitals in patient safety than any other health system for seven consecutive
years (2016-2022).
Prime Healthcare hospitals are known for always keeping emergency rooms
open, rarely requiring patient diversion to other hospitals.
The Prime Healthcare Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, includes 14 hospitals in California, Texas,
Ohio, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island, and is dedicated to providing
quality, compassionate healthcare for all and serving communities through
charitable and educational initiatives. The Prime Healthcare Foundation
has more than $1 billion in assets and has provided more than $2 billion
in charity care, sponsoring local and global initiatives to improve the
lives of others.
The Prime Healthcare Foundation founded the
California University of Science and Medicine to train the next generation of physicians to serve disadvantaged communities
in California and throughout the world. The university, located in San
Bernardino County, graduated its inaugural class of MD students in May 2022.
