President of Operations, Division II
Mr. Luis Leon serves as President of Operations, Division II of Prime Healthcare.
Prime Healthcare is an award-winning health system with 45 hospitals in
14 states and nearly 40,000 employees and physicians. Prime Healthcare
Division II includes 28 hospitals, multiple medical groups and clinics
in 12 states east of Nevada.
Previously, Mr. Leon was the Prime Healthcare Regional CEO in San Diego,
overseeing Alvarado Hospital Medical Center and Paradise Valley Hospital.
During his tenure, he was instrumental in bringing operational improvements
and stability to the hospitals. Both facilities received numerous safety
and clinical excellence awards from The Leapfrog Group, Healthgrades and
The Joint Commission. During Mr. Leon's tenure, Alvarado Hospital
Medical Center was consistently recognized as a "Top Performer on
Key Quality Measures.” Paradise Valley Hospital has been recognized
as a "Top 100 Hospital" in the nation by IBM Watson Health.
Mr. Leon performed his general studies at La Sierra University in Riverside,
California. He is a Physician Assistant from University of California,
Davis and received a Bachelor of Science degree and MBA from University
of Saint Mary. He served on the Board of the California Hospital Association
of San Diego and Imperial Counties and maintains memberships with the
California Association of Physicians Assistants, the National Association
of Physicians Assistants and the California Association of Radiologic
Technologists, as well as the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies.
Mr. Leon's family immigrated from Cuba to the United States early in
his life. He currently resides in Riverside, California with his wife
Loyda and their two sons. Both Mr. Leon and his wife are the children
of ministers of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which has a long tradition
of health care service. It is that heritage of service that fuels Luis'
passion for the practice of medicine and his servant leadership style.
