Sonia Mehta, MD serves as CEO and CMO of Region II of Prime Healthcare
which includes Prime’s hospitals and outpatient locations in Pennsylvania,
New Jersey and Rhode Island. She also serves as Chief Academic Officer.
Dr. Mehta is a physician executive with more than 25 years of healthcare
management experience. She previously served as CEO/CMO of Lorretto Hospital,
a 177-bed independent, safety net hospital and CMO and Board Member of
Better Health Network, a Managed Care Community Network in Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Mehta has also served as President & CEO of the Illinois/Wisconsin
Medical Group, a 200+ provider multi-specialty group of the Hospital Sisters
Health System and Executive Medical Director of Immediate Care Centers
and Chief of Ambulatory Services for 489-bed Northwest Community Hospital
in Arlington Heights, IL.
Dr. Mehta is a board-certified Internist and completed her residency at
West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, IL. Dr. Mehta also earned an Executive
MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
Over the span of her career, Dr. Mehta has served on various healthcare
boards. She was one of 20 people selected on serve on Governor Rauner’s
HHS transition team in Illinois. She has chaired multiple committees at
the Illinois State level for Medicaid transformation. In addition, Dr.
Mehta led the Westside Heroin Task Force to help reduce drug related deaths
and violence in inner city Chicago. Dr. Mehta has received national recognition
for her leadership and has been ranked amongst the nation’s Top
100 Physician Leaders for last 5 years and has been recognized as one
of the “10 Women Physician Leaders to Know” by Becker’s
Hospital Review.
