Ontario, Calif., April 15, 2013 – Prime Healthcare Services was recognized
today as one of the "15 Top Health Systems" in the nation by
Truven Health Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters) based on quality of
care, efficiency and patient satisfaction. This is the third time in five
years that Prime Healthcare has earned the national distinction. Prime
Healthcare was the only for profit health system recognized in the nation.
According to Truven Health, compared to its peers, Prime Healthcare saved
more lives, caused fewer patient complications, followed industry-recommended
standards of care more closely, made fewer patient safety errors, released
patients half a day sooner and scored better on overall patient satisfaction.
This annual, quantitative study uses objective, independent research and
public data sources. Health systems do not apply, and winners do not pay
to market their award.

Included in the study were 328 health systems and 2, 254 hospitals. The
winning systems experienced 3.4 percent fewer deaths than non-winning
peer-group hospitals, lower 30-day mortality rates, 3 percent fewer complications,
a median average length of stay of 4.49 days, over half a day shorter
than their peers' median of 5.06 days, and 7 percent fewer adverse
patient safety events than expected, given the case mix of the particular
hospital, and had better adherence to core measures of care than their peers.

The published study is based on Medicare data from 2010 and 2011 and takes
into consideration 12 patient care metrics.

Medical Center, Desert Valley Hospital, Encino Hospital Medical Center,
Garden Grove Medical Center, Huntington Beach Hospital, La Palma Intercommunity
Hospital, Montclair Hospital Medical Center, Paradise Valley Hospital,
San Dimas Community Hospital, Shasta Regional Medical Center, Sherman
Oaks Hospital and West Anaheim Medical Center.
