Providence Place in Kansas Helps Patients Recuperate
Employees at Providence Place, a skilled nursing and rehabilitative care center in Kansas City, KS, received attention for the excellent work they do in helping people heal.
From the Kansas City Kansan:
Charlene Sargent is an active, independent woman who lives on her own in Senior Living of Bonner Springs. But when she fell a few weeks ago during a trip to the Kansas City Zoo, she ended up in the Providence Medical Center Emergency Services Department, then was admitted to the hospital for sciatic nerve pain.
Though she felt better after a few days in the hospital for treatment, doctors didn’t think she was quite ready to go home yet. “I needed a lot more physical therapy to rehabilitate the injury,” the 72-year-old woman says. “I couldn’t go to my daughter’s home because she has stairs, and there was no way I could go up and down them.”
Fortunately, she was an excellent candidate for Providence Place, a 69-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitative care center located on the hospital’s campus at 8909 Parallel Parkway. Providence Place offers skilled and intermediate-level care to meet patients’ needs for short-term (less than 30 days) or long-term stays.
