All Prime Healthcare hospitals in California Awarded
Prime Healthcare has achieved national recognition by having more 2016 Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award recipients than any other health system in the country. Twenty Prime Healthcare hospitals achieved this honor, including all 15 California hospitals. Prime Healthcare, based in Ontario, CA, operates 42 hospitals in 14 states and is the fifth largest for profit health system in the United States.
"The recipients of the Healthgrades 2016 Patient Safety Excellence Award have not only found ways to improve patient safety, but to outperform expectations in the prevention of adverse safety incidents," said Evan Marks, Chief Strategy Officer, Healthgrades. "We applaud Prime Healthcare and their 20 recipient hospitals for their performance, having more recipients than any other system in the nation speaks to Prime's organizational commitment to delivering high-quality care."
The distinction places the Prime Healthcare hospitals among the top 10% of hospitals in the nation for excellent performance as evaluated by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. Hospitals were evaluated based on the occurrence of observed incidents and expected performance for 14 Patient Safety Indicators as defined by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. This Healthgrades designation recognizes superior performance in hospitals that have prevented the occurrence of serious, potentially avoidable complications for patients during hospital stays.
"I am very proud of our clinicians and staff for their tireless efforts to deliver exceptional care that ensures the safety and wellbeing of every patient," said Prem Reddy, MD, Chairman, President and CEO of Prime Healthcare. "We are humbled to receive this award that recognizes Prime Healthcare's commitment to delivering the highest quality of care. This is what all patients and community members deserve."
