Centinela Hospital Medical Center Celebrates Completion of Seismic Retrofit Project
Centinela Hospital Medical Center celebrated the completion of it's
over $55 million seismic retrofit project on Wednesday, June 22 with a
gala ribbon cutting, awards presentation and hospital tour. Over 100 attendees
listened as Linda Bradley, CEO of the hospital, introduced distinguished
guests; Prem Reddy, MD, Chairman, President and CEO of Prime Healthcare;
James T. Butts – Mayor, City of Inglewood; Paryus Patel, MD –
Chief Medical Officer, Prime Healthcare Services Division II and Robert
Chesne, M.D. – Chief of Medical Staff, Centinela Hospital. In his
remarks to the audience, Dr. Patel enthusiastically stated, "Centinela
Hospital has reached a level of excellence that has ranked it as one of
the best hospitals in the nation. But now is the time to take that next
step. It's time to reach for the moon and become super excellent.
I believe that with the support of our superb medical staff, hospital
administration and clinical staff that there are no bounds to what we
can achieve."
Maggie Foley, Associate Director, Quality Solutions from Healthgrades,
presented a representative group from the hospital's Governing Board,
Medical and Allied Health Staff, Registered Nurses, Clinical Team and
Support Staff with the 2016 Distinguished Hospital Clinical Excellence
Award, the 2016 Patient Safety Excellence Award and the 2016 Quality Improvement
Innovation Award. The Healthgrades
organization is the leading online resource for comprehensive information
about physicians and hospitals. These Healthgrades designations recognize
Centinela Hospital's superior performance in the prevention of serious,
potentially avoidable complications for patients during hospital stays.
This places Centinela Hospital in the top 5% in the nation for the level
of care provided to patients. Ms. Foley in her remarks stated, "We

Following this presentation, Ms. Bradley provided highlights of the renovation
project that began years ago. Components of which include the West Patient
Tower seismic retrofit, the re-design of the front of the hospital and
parking lot; a new main lobby and gift shop; a new Admitting Department;
Clinical Laboratory, Rehabilitation Department, and the recently renamed
Vintage Diner. The showpiece of the day was the Serenity Garden. Charity
Maldonado, Critical Care RN, Clinical Nurse Supervisor, took the stage
to give life to the meaning of the new Serenity Garden and the positive
impact it will have on visitors and staff. Plans are also underway to
expand the Centinela Hospital Emergency Department, Labor and Delivery
unit and the hospital pharmacy.
