Posted on Sep 1, 2016
Prem Reddy, MD, FACC, FCCP, Chairman, President and CEO of Prime Healthcare,
has once again been named to Modern Healthcare's prestigious list
of the "100 Most Influential People in Healthcare" for 2016.
This is the third time that Dr. Reddy has been recognized as among the
most influential healthcare leaders in the nation.
"I am proud of this recognition, and I am humbled and honored that
Modern Healthcare recognizes Prime Healthcare's mission and valuable
role in saving and transforming community hospitals across the nation,"
said Dr. Reddy. Dr. Reddy has been a tireless advocate and leader for
improving healthcare quality and safety in community hospitals across
the United States, and has been recognized for his leadership efforts
locally, nationally and globally.
President Barack Obama led the Modern Healthcare list again this year.
Dr. Reddy, a board certified cardiologist, is ranked at number 79. The
individuals on the Modern Healthcare list are a varied group ranging from
leaders of the nation's largest payers to presidential candidates
and Supreme Court justices. All have achieved extraordinary success in
their chosen fields. The top five leaders on the list in addition to President
Obama include Bernard Tyson, chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente; Anthony
Tersigni, president and CEO of Ascension; Mark Bertolini, chairman of
Aetna; and Sylvia Matthews Burwell, HHS Secretary.
Modern Healthcare's list is a compilation based on more than 9,000
submissions from the publication's readers. The nominees were narrowed
down to 300 candidates. Reader votes made up 50 percent of the final outcome;
Modern Healthcare's senior editors' votes made up the other 50
percent. According to Modern Healthcare, enduring influence is the central
theme this year and the list recognized "the most influential individuals
in the industry, in terms of leadership and impact."
Dr. Reddy is a visionary and generous leader, donating millions toward
charities that provide educational scholarships and free healthcare. Through
his charitable foundations, he has donated over $800 million to fund not
for profit hospitals, charitable missions and universities, including
the creation of a new, non-profit medical school that will be located
in San Bernardino County, California.
Dr. Reddy founded Prime Healthcare in 2001 and has led the health system
to become the fastest growing and fifth largest for profit system in the
country with 43 hospitals in 14 states.
