Centinela Hospital Medical Center Receives Quality Improvement Innovation Award from Healthgrades
Posted on Apr 21, 2016
Centinela Hospital Medical Center has been presented the 2015 - 2016 Quality
Improvement Innovation Award from Healthgrades. Healthgrades is the leading
online resource helping consumers make informed decisions to find the
right doctor, the right hospital and the right care.
"Healthgrades already recognizes Centinela Hospital as being in the
top 5% in the nation for their quality care and now we have also rated
them the best out of more than 1,500 hospitals across the nation to demonstrate
the largest improvement in its quality outcomes from 2015 to 2016,"
said Scott Booker, CEO of Healthgrades. "Centinela has been a leader
in clinical performance for a number of years, and also achieved the 2016
Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award."

Centinela Hospital improved its clinical performance from 2015 to 2016
by 63 percent. "We are thrilled to receive this prestigious award
from Healthgrades and I'm very proud of our physicians, nurses and
employees for their dedication to quality patient care," said Linda
Bradley, CEO of Centinela Hospital. "Quality improvement requires
true collaboration from all members of the clinical team. Ensuring that
our hospital and medical staff are aligned will continue to drive improved
clinical performance."
According to Bradley, the hospital and medical staff joined in a commitment
to transform their culture to one of innovation and collaboration. Rapid-response
teams were created to drive improvement and address areas where there
was opportunity to improve. "Enabling communication and problem-solving
in an environment where titles have no influence on the evaluation of
solutions allowed innovative ideas to flourish," continued Bradley.
Centinela Hospital has been recognized by numerous national organizations.
In addition to Healthgrades, the hospital received the Joint Commission's
Top Performer on Key Quality Measures award for 2013, 2014 and 2015. Centinela
Hospital consistently receives an "A" rating from the Leapfrog
Group in patient safety, and has been named a Top 100 hospital in the
United States five years in a row by Truven Health Analytics.
Paryus Patel, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Centinela Hospital, states,
"All of our physicians and staff have a passionate dedication to
quality and patient experience using evidence-based practices. We are
honored to be recognized for the quality of our clinical care by this
unbiased and peer-reviewed study. Congratulations to the physicians, nurses
and employees at Centinela Hospital for meeting the highest standards
of quality care in the country. Our goal is to always deliver award-winning,
compassionate care."
Currently, Centinela Hospital is investing more than $80 million to transform
the way care is delivered in the community. "Our community deserves
exceptional healthcare. We are modernizing our hospital by seismically
retrofitting the West Tower building and expanding the Emergency Department
to 52 beds. The increase in the size of the emergency department is vital
because over 60,000 patients come through its doors annually," said
Bradley. Additional campus improvements include a new emergency power
plant and electrical system; a new clinical lab and remodeled physical
therapy area; new women's health unit; installation of a third state-of-the-art
cardiac catheterization lab and new main lobby, admitting and front entrance areas.
