The stories on this page are examples of Prime’s promise: to provide
compassionate care and clinical excellence to all patients as we create
hospitals that improve healthcare in every community we serve.
We are grateful to patients who choose members of the Prime Healthcare
family of hospitals for their care. We are also grateful for our healthcare
heroes who go above and beyond every day to take exceptional care of patients,
loved ones, and their communities.
A few days ago Chris went to a nearby hospital. She was told she needed
an ultrasound, however, she would have to drive to another hospital to
get it. She went for her ultrasound and was told she needed to see a surgeon.
They instructed her to go back to the ED where she drove from. When she
arrived, no one seemed to know why she was there; she was treated like
a number, without compassion. The surgeon told her to make an appointment
at his office; the earliest she could get in was two weeks out. They sent
her home with a prescription for pain medication. She decided to go to
Monroe Hospital. "I wish I had come to Monroe first," she said.
The team at Monroe was able to get her ultrasound and was admitted for
surgery. The Emergency Department physician treated her with compassion.
She said, "The nurses have all been A+...I can't think of another
thing that would make my stay better. The doctors and nurses have been
very informative and answered my questions. I will only choose to come
to Monroe Hospital."
When Mr. Smith* was admitted to Southern Regional’s dedicated COVID
Unit, he feared his worst nightmare had come true – testing positive
for COVID-19 and being sick enough to be admitted to the hospital. Mr.
Smith shared that he had heard horror stories about COVID patients in
the hospital and was terrified that he would be alone and isolated; or
realize his biggest fear – the thought of dying alone from this
virus. However, his experience was the very opposite of his fears. Mr.
Smith shared with our COVID team that, not only did he not feel alone,
he never felt as isolated as he thought he would feel. His nurses checked
on him often and never made him feel as if they were afraid to take care
of him. He stated that because of the kindness and compassion he was shown
that, if even if the worst had happened, he felt he would not have died
alone – the team would have been by his side. Mr. Smith said he
is truly grateful he came to Southern Regional Medical Center.

"A special thank you to the emergency room doctor who knew my heart
was breaking when I saw my mother so ill but took the time to explain
things, to the nurse who rode in the ambulance with her and took the time
to place a call to let me know 'how mom was doing,' to the nurse
who washed and combed Mom's hair, when I know she had a million things
to do.... and all the other acts of kindness by all involved in her care." –

"After 40 years, my spouse and I were forced to leave a healthcare
provider and set of doctors to find another that still might have face
to face relationships. We were led to Desert Valley Medical Group. Needless
to say, we've been highly impressed with the deliverance of excellence
and enthusiasm from all of the members." Desert Valley Hospital is
"a caring organization for patients and staff members alike, even
in a controlled society that pushes the limits." –

“It was the best treatment I've ever had. I didn't have to
wait. Everyone was taking care of me like that the way it should be. It
was 100 percent perfect. I told my friends to go there. If I get sick,
I want to go there. Anywhere I am, I want to go back there. I will go

"The entire staff of the facility went above and beyond in their care
for me. At a very difficult time for both me and my family, everyone at
the rehabilitation center joined together and gave me the proper care
and physical therapy I required. Their skill and dedication to my condition
helped me progress and made it possible for me to attend my daughter's
wedding, a very important occasion to me and my family. We are extremely
fortunate to have a facility in the State of Rhode Island that offers
a competent and skilled staff of professionals. We should all be proud
and grateful to have such an organization within our state. I am forever
grateful for their dedication and expert care and did not want their efforts
to go unrecognized. My family and I are beholden to the professional caretakers
at Rhode Island Rehabilitation Center."
