Prime Healthcare Honored with Outstanding Community Outreach Award by the Los Angeles Business Journal
ONTARIO, Calif., September 05, 2025 – Prime Healthcare has been recognized with the Outstanding Community Outreach Award at the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2025 Health Care Leadership Awards. The recognition highlights Prime’s mission-driven commitment to preserving access to care by keeping community hospitals open and ensuring that local neighborhoods have trusted hospitals to rely on.
The Outstanding Community Outreach Award was one of several presented at the event, with additional recognitions awarded to health systems such as UCLA Health, Keck Medicine of USC, City of Hope, and the Los Angeles County Medical Association, underscoring the vital role community hospitals play in Los Angeles and beyond.
Prime’s outreach also extends beyond immediate care, with a strong focus on education and physician training to address physician shortages in underserved areas. Through the Prime Healthcare Foundation and the California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM), Prime is educating future physicians with a mission to serve vulnerable communities. Prime also sponsors 30 residency and fellowship programs across more than 25 hospitals, training over 700 residents annually who are dedicated to delivering quality, patient-centered care.
Alongside a panel of healthcare leaders from LA Care, Health Net, UCLA Health, Hospital Association of Southern California, and Los Angeles County Medical Association, President and Chair of Prime Healthcare Foundation and Chief Medical Officer of Strategy for Prime Healthcare Kavitha Bhatia, MD, MMM, FAAP, FACHE pointed out the need for health systems to partner for the health of the community. “When we talk about competition, I think what we’re really talking about is collaboration. Each of us has a role to play in the ecosystem of care, and it’s about coming together to serve our communities.”
With 51 hospitals in 14 states, including 5 in Los Angeles County, Prime Healthcare continues to expand access to care through charitable programs, health equity initiatives, and investments in education and training. Its efforts have been recognized nationally, including awards from the Lown Institute for Equity and Social Responsibility, and more than $14 billion in charitable contributions since 2010.
