Three Prime Healthcare Hospitals Named Among the Nation’s Top 100 by Premier for 2025
One hospital also receives the prestigious Everest Award, highlighting Prime Healthcare’s commitment to quality, outcomes, and community health
[ONTARIO, Calif. (May 8, 2025)] – Prime Healthcare is proud to announce that three of its hospitals have been named to the prestigious Premier 100 Top Hospitals® list for 2025, a national recognition of excellence in clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, and patient-centered care. One of the honored hospitals (St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, California) also received the coveted Everest Award, recognizing outstanding performance and sustained improvement over five years—placing it among only 17 hospitals nationwide to earn this dual distinction.
Prime Healthcare and Prime Healthcare Foundation hospitals have been recognized 72 times on the 100 Top Hospitals list, underscoring a consistent standard of excellence across the system. The 2025 analysis also introduces new metrics highlighting hospitals’ contributions to community health, health equity, and social responsibility—values that are deeply embedded in Prime’s mission.
The Prime Healthcare hospitals recognized on the 2025 list include:
- St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, California – First-time honoree and Everest Award recipient
- East Liverpool City Hospital in East Liverpool, Ohio – Eight-time honoree and three-time Everest Award recipient (2018–2020)
- North Vista Hospital in North Las Vegas, Nevada – First-time honoree
“This recognition reflects the heart of our mission—to save hospitals, serve communities, and deliver compassionate, quality care,” said Sunny Bhatia, MD, President and Chief Medical Officer of Prime Healthcare. “This is a tribute to the unwavering dedication of our physicians, nurses, and caregivers—individuals who make a profound difference in the lives of patients every single day. With the right vision, strong leadership, and continued commitment, we believe every hospital can build on its strengths to deliver truly exceptional care.”
Premier’s annual 100 Top Hospitals® program evaluated more than 2,500 short-term, acute care, non-federal hospitals nationwide using publicly available data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Hospitals were assessed across multiple performance domains, including mortality, complications, infection rates, patient satisfaction, and financial efficiency.
Compared to peer hospitals, the 100 Top Hospitals achieved:
- 39% fewer inpatient deaths
- 26.5% fewer complications
- 32% fewer healthcare-associated infections
- 18% lower inpatient costs per discharge
- 0.4-day shorter average length of stay
- Significantly higher patient satisfaction (HCAHPS top-box score of 73% vs. 68%)
“If all hospitals performed at the level of this year’s top performers, the impact would be profound—over 331,000 lives could be saved, 611,000 patients could avoid complications, and more than $15 billion in inpatient costs could be reduced,” said David Zito, President of Performance Services at Premier. “Prime Healthcare hospitals exemplify what’s possible when data-driven decision-making is paired with a deep commitment to patient outcomes and community care.”
“This recognition is incredibly significant as it reflects the measurable impact of our caregivers’ unwavering commitment to clinical excellence and compassionate care,” said Kavitha Bhatia, MD, President and Chair of Prime Healthcare Foundation. “It reflects the resilience, leadership, and evidence-based practices that drive our mission to save lives and improve health outcomes across the communities we serve.”
