Prime Healthcare Foundation

The Prime Healthcare Foundation has provided more than $3 billion in support of our communities.

Led by Dr. Kavitha Bhatia as President and Chair, the Prime Healthcare Foundation, headquartered in Ontario, California, is a 501(c)(3) public charity that owns 14 not-for-profit community-based hospitals.

The Foundation consists of over $1.3 billion in assets all donated by Dr. Prem Reddy and his family. The mission of the Prime Healthcare Foundation is to provide quality, compassionate healthcare for all, and serve communities through charitable and educational initiatives.

Annually, Prime Healthcare Foundation hospitals are recognized by the Leapfrog Group, Healthgrades, Fortune/Merative, Lown Institute, and other national organizations as clinically excellent, socially responsible healthcare providers. The Foundation owns these non-profit acute care hospitals to serve the needs of communities, providing millions of dollars annually in charity care and community benefit.

The Foundation supports charitable causes including: Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, Unforgettables Foundation, Beauty Bus Foundation, Venice Family Clinic, World Children’s Initiative, Project Heart Uganda, ONE Generation, and many others.

Kavitha Bhatia, MD, serves as President and Chair of Prime Healthcare Foundation.

The Prime Healthcare Foundation has more than $1.3 billion in assets and has provided more than $3 billion in charity care, sponsoring local and global initiatives to forward its mission of improving the lives of others through healthcare and education. As a recognized leader in healthcare, Dr. Kavitha Bhatia is a pediatrician and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Through her work that reflects a deep commitment to expand access to quality compassionate care and address healthcare disparities, Dr. Bhatia has been presented with congressional and legislative recognitions for honorable service. On a national level, her work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and finding new ways to create wellness for communities across the country received gratitude from President Joseph R. Prime Healthcare Foundation

California University of Science and Medicine

With a commitment of $80 million, the Prime Healthcare Foundation established the California University of Science and Medicine, a private, non-profit medical school located in Southern California in 2018 with a mission to advance medicine, improve the health of communities, and inspire service in underserved areas. The school welcomed its first class of medical students in July 2018 and celebrated its inaugural graduation of MD students in May 2022. The ceremony included an additional $10 million donation from Prime Healthcare Foundation.
