The award recognizes Dr. Reddy’s exceptional commitment to community healthcare and the human values that define his life’s work.

Dr. Reddy and Kavitha Bhatia, MD, President and Chair of Prime Healthcare Foundation, were both invited leaders to the Global Leadership Forum, distinguished for their commitment to leadership that embraces values such as integrity and compassion.

The Global Leadership Forum convened more than 1,200 invited leaders from many of the most successful business, government, and international institutions around the world to discuss how to infuse ethics and humanness in the corporate world. Leaders included dignitaries such as the former Prime Ministers of Norway and New Zealand, former Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-Moon, distinguished professors and thought leaders from Harvard, Yale and Stanford, sports leaders such as former Germany national team soccer coach Christoph Daum, and leaders of cutting-edge companies such as Microsoft. All expressed a commitment to leading a world with compassion, peace, and unity.

During his acceptance speech, Dr. Reddy said, “With passion and unwavering determination, I embarked on a mission to create a healthcare system that prioritized the values we physicians embrace:  the values of quality, accessibility, and compassion. I accept this award not just for myself, but for every immigrant who has dared to dream, for every physician who strives to make a difference, and for every business leader and entrepreneur with the dedication that guides them to improve the lives of others.”

The award presentation occurred during the World Culture Festival which was organized by The Art of Living Foundation in collaboration with the Office of the Mayor of Washington, D.C., with more than one million people from around the world participating in a three-day celebration of peace.

Dr. Reddy, a cardiologist from humble beginning in rural India who was the first in his family to attend school, founded Prime Healthcare in 2001 with a mission to save hospitals to serve communities. Over the last 22 years, Prime has grown to 45 hospitals and more than 300 outpatient locations in 14 states with more than 50,000 employees and physicians. With a career of distinguished service, Dr. Reddy has been continuously recognized nationally and globally for his visionary leadership and philanthropic endeavors. A physician, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Dr. Reddy’s life work has been to not only save and transform community hospitals, but to give back directly to communities locally and globally through charitable initiatives that advance medicine and education. He founded the Dr. Prem Reddy Family Foundation and the Prime Healthcare Foundation, the latter which includes 14 of Prime Healthcare’s not-for-profit hospitals. Combined, the foundations have assets of $1.3 billion, all donated by Dr. Reddy and his family.

In 2018, Dr. Reddy’s legacy was extended to medical education with the founding of the California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM), one of the nation’s newest medical schools located in San Bernardino County, California. Dr. Reddy serves as Chairman of the Board of CUSM and Dr. Bhatia serves as Vice Chair of the Board. With a goal of promoting health equity and addressing the physician shortage, CUSM advances the art and science of medicine through innovative medical education and research. CUSM celebrated its first graduation on May 21, 2022, with special appreciation from California Governor Gavin Newsom and Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN medical correspondent.

In addition to his recognition by the World Forum for Ethics in Business, Dr. Reddy was recently honored with a lifetime achievement award from Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
